The Hongkong based dealer whom I talked to, offered me at around USD$2250 price.

It's not fake, they do not know what they are talking about.

Original box and certificate as issued from the mint, the coins are 100% authentic. Fear mongers.

Yeah because it's real hard to fake a piece of paper, lmao. If they went to all of the trouble to fake GOLD coins what makes you think they wouldn't take 15 minutes to make themselves a fake certificate to match? That's just silly.

They aren't necessarily fake but there are definitely some small differences between the OP's pictures and other pictures of the same coins online.

This is why I refuse to buy any coins that knowingly come from China. As for the certificate, think about it - take the real coins out and pop the fakes into the capsules. Then you have a complete set with real box and COA, and you still have the real coins somewhere else. PM's set looks legit to me though.

Chinese fakes of Canadian rare coins are really straining the hobby up here, for the exact same reason we see in this thread: everyone becomes paranoid and everyone thinks everything is fake,until prove otherwise.

Well, I certainly hope PM didn't buy fakes, but you never know. Is there anyone local you can bring the coins to have them checked out in person, PM?

I'm also curious to find out the verdict of this as well but it seems the OP has disappeared from this thread and really hasn't responded since we began talking about it. He's been inactive in the thread for over 4 weeks now. He might have not even noticed the thread still going, <shrugs>.

my wife and I try to buy nothing Chinese! we don't feel we can ever trust the quality. And after visiting there three times this year i still fell the same, so great people, but I always worry about their products ( gold or otherwise).
